| Can a Paternity DNA Test - Prenatal Testing - Be Done Before a Child is Born? |
|
Yes. Paternity DNA testing can be done before a child is born. This is called prenatal testing. Standard buccal (cheek swab) samples are collected on the mother and the alleged father. In addition, a prenatal sample of the child is collected in one of two ways:
These samples must be collected by the mother's obstetrician. The testing will take approximately one week to complete after BRT Laboratories receives the prenatal sample and the mother and alleged-father sample.
